Enchanting Cabinas

cabina 2cabina 1

We have six cabinas available for rent.  The cabinas are up the hill from the dining room, pool, and yoga areas.  Five of these have both a double and single bed, and one has only a double bed.  The cabina with the double bed we usually reserve for the group leader.  All cabinas have ceiling fans and a private bathroom with hot water.

We have an open-air rancho which is approximately 1100 square feet for classes, along with the dining room and pool areas.

With five cabinas being rented the group leader stays in the eighth cabina free.  Bring 5 people (single occupancy) to 10 people (double) and we will provide the Peace and tranquility that is Panacea.  All of your group members would pay our discounted group rate.  For example, our 7 night group package rates from November 15, 2013-May 2014 are currently : $1195 and Double Occupancy $836.  A $500 non-refundable deposit for up to 5 nights, and $100 each additional night is required to guarantee your group reservation.

Your stay will be at no cost to you!

All you need to do is bring a minimum of 5 people (single occupancy) to a maximum of 10 people besides yourself. This will allow us to close Panacea to other guests and allow Panacea to be your private sanctuary while you and your group stay with us.  We require a $500 non-refundable deposit for up to five nights and $100 for each additional night in order to hold dates for you.  One month before your retreat, 50% of the total cost is due.  The balance is payable upon your arrival at Panacea.

Promoting your Retreat

Once you choose a date for your stay with Panacea we would be happy to send you some marketing material as well as a detailed email so that you can forward to the group you would like to bring.  We would also be happy to post your retreat on our special events page for advertising.

Getting to Panacea:

We are located 10 minutes from Tamarindo Beach, a 1 hour drive from the Liberia International airport and a 5 hour drive from the San Jose International airport.  From Liberia:  We can arrange for a driver to meet you at the Liberia airport (price of the transport will depend on number of people).  A good estimate for a group is about $20 one way per person from the airport, and the same amount for the return.   Delta, US Air, Continental, United, Air Canada, JetBlue, Frontier, Taca, Copa, and American Airlines all fly into the Liberia airport. From San Jose: You can either take the bus (Interbus: www.interbusonline.com or Grayline: www.graylinecostarica.com for about $40 per person one way) or fly on one of two small airlines into the Tamarindo airport.  The two airlines are Sansa Air www.flysansa.com and Nature Air www.natureair.com.  We can arrange for pickup from the Tamarindo airport.

Please keep in mind:  Check in time is from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm.  Arriving during daylight hours allows us to provide your group with an orientation to the mountain.  We can recommend a place to stay your first night if you or members of your group will be arriving later.

We are all excited to share the Panacea experience with you and your group!

How do you start your day

Here at Panacea we live in a tropical paradise.  We love to wake up with the sun and hear the monkeys talking to each other in the trees.  Walking up to yoga, knowing we will find a sense of self, relaxation, and purpose excites us as we greet our guests and this beautiful new day.  How do you start your day?

The Garden Fairies of Panacea

Debbie with Draggy

Debbie with Draggy

Those of you who have visited us at Panacea de la Montaña Yoga Retreat and Spa will have enjoyed the love and creativity that Deb puts into the meals she serves.  It is this passion for creating that has allowed her to become an artist as well as a chef.  She finds pieces of wood or other remnant material and sees the spirit inside of them.  She then sets to work creating a garden fairy to watch over her gardens.  These garden fairies all have their own energy and we hope they engage guests to take a step back from their busy lives and enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes with creating or enjoying pieces of art.  Our guests are invited to make jewelry, signs, paint rocks, make sculptures, really the sky is the limit when it comes to creating.  We hope you enjoy these fairies as much as Debbie has enjoyed creating them.  And better yet we hope to see you soon, so that you might create some of your own works of art!

Signs Signs Who Wrote The Signs

Image

Well here at Panacea everyone writes the signs!  Taking a walk up to your cabina, up to your daily yoga class or really anywhere on the mountain you will come upon Panacea artwork from time to time.  We invite our guests to paint meaningful signs or messages on stones or pieces of reclaimed wood.  This helps them leave a Peace of themselves with us on the mountain while they return to their lives, hopefully taking the Peace of Panacea with them.  These signs, pictures, messages can be very thoughtful or playful.  We find the perfect place for each piece of art on the mountain and hope that all our visitors find joy in the messages they make as well as those of our past guests.  Did you make a sign when you visited us?

The Hawks at Panacea

hawk 4
Things at Panacea are never boring.  On what was another beautiful day in paradise, Abad (our guy who works with us during the day) discovered a gray hawk stuck in some barbed wire up above the cabinas.  Peter and Abad were able to cut the hawk out of the wire and get him to the vet.  Carla (our wonderful vet) gave him stitches, antibiotics and food.  After two days,  we were able to bring him home and release him.
We had been hearing his partner (hawks do mate for life) calling for him since he became stuck in the barbed wire fence.  Since he has been released, we have seen one of them (didn’t quite catch which one) flying overhead bringing food to what sounds like a couple baby hawks.   We were so happy to have been able to help him rejoin his family again!
Whenever an animal like this comes to us on the mountain, we also look for the deeper meaning behind the event.  From the website,  Spirit Animals & Animal Totems, we found this:
When you have the hawk as a spirit animal, you may have an inclination towards using the power of vision and intuition in your daily life. The hawk totem provides wisdom about seeing situations from a higher perspective, using the power of observation, and focusing on the task at hand. It’s a good companion to develop spiritual awareness.
We think it is no accident that we had the hawk come to Panacea!  For those of you who have been here, you know that we often will hear them calling in the ravine up by the rancho when we do yoga in the mornings.  May the call of the hawk help you sharpen your intuition and awareness.

Gandhi Watching the Sunset

Gandhi Watching the Sunset

We really love our jobs here at Panacea. We get to do yoga everyday, eat wonderful, fresh, vegetarian food everyday, meet truly incredible people, and get to see some of most spectacular sunsets over the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Life is good! Gandhi, one of our dogs pictured here, was captured as he enjoyed a sunset dip in the pool the other day (thanks to Sheryl for the awesome photo!). As she wrote: “…just wanted to send you my ultimate favorite picture…. Ghandi watching the sunset. I just love it and all the memories it represents.”

The fact is that a lot of us forget to take time to watch sunsets, listen to the call of birds, or simply enjoy the vibrant taste of a simple fruit. It was refreshing for us this week to see a whole group of our guests do just that. Conversations in which people were actually engaged and listening, yoga classes in which participants stayed present and learned some small, yet powerful adjustments, joyful appreciation of those special moments when a hummingbird came to drink out of the flower, and watching the sunset with Gandhi.

Thank you for making our job so awesome!

Water Aerobics Anyone?

image

Water Aerobics is a great way to increase the condition of your heart while providing a low impact workout for your body.  Here at Panacea we offer water aerobics every afternoon.  We love jumping in the pool in the afternoon to get some exercise after a day of relaxation and reflection.   Starting the day with an hour and a half of Yoga and a delicious breakfast followed by a day of relaxation or adventure, then water aerobics before the most spectacular sunset is the Panacea way.  Come visit and experience it all for yourself!

The Owls of Panacea

owls-pictures5

The Owls of Panacea

We were delighted to have these two owls with us here at Panacea in Costa Rica.  They had been hanging out in the big Quebracho tree right by where all guests walk up to their cabinas.  One of our guys spotted them while watering a garden below – good eyes, for they blended so well with the tree, that we often had to point them out to each other.  The owls actually moved out on a closer branch the day we got this photo.

We have determined that these two are either Pacific screech owls or Tropical screech owls.  They have the characteristic tufts of feathers on their heads, and from the pictures we could find on the internet, they are one of those two.  Anyone with more owl knowledge who can tell us which one these are, please let us know!

So of course, we had to look up what owls symbolize, and what message they may have for all of us.  From the book, Animal-Speak by Ted Andrews, we learned that owls can have a lot of meanings!  Due to their great sight and hearing, it is said that those working with owl energy, may at times be able to see and hear what is being hidden by others.  Hmmm, ok, what else?  Well, owls’ eyes do not move, so they have to move their very mobile head to look around.  So Mr. Andrews writes that if you have a lack of flexibility in your neck, “you are hindering your perceptions to a great degree”.  He recommends neck massage (we do have excellent massage therapists), and to that we also recommend coming to yoga class here at Panacea de la Montaña to get that flexibility going.  Check!   Reading further, we found out that screech owls in particular use cooperative hunting – so another lesson from our owls appears to be learning how to keep your individuality while cooperating with others.  That, we think, is probably the biggest lesson we all need to learn.

We’re taking that one to our yoga mat and into our lives!

Namaste.
